F.A.Q.

Q:  There are a few dates that we know far in advance our son will be away e.g. a hockey tournament,  Is it possible for us to arrange an alternate lesson for him that week because we are letting you know now?

A:  No. Lessons can not be rescheduled regardless of how long in advance you know this information and during the regular school year. With dozens of families making similar requests,  our studio is not able to run smoothly with so many families asking for changes. Students are given their own day/time spot for the term which can not be altered.

Q:  With no option to reschedule lessons will I lose my lesson money?

A:  Not at all. Many other schools only allow 1 missed lesson/rescheduled lesson per term.  After that you loose your $$. At YMPS, you never lose your lesson money when you can't attend a class. A quality asynchronous video lesson/instructions are provided and tailored to the individual student

Q:  I don't have a full keyboard. I only have 66 keys and its a digital piano. Can I still learn?

A:  Absolutely! As a beginner you can use an entry level keyboard. Once you progress, a larger keyboard will eventually become necessary. We are happy to help you navigate that.

Q:  Is theory important? Is this included in the lesson time?

A:  Yes. Very. Even adult learners benefit from understanding music theory. We use a fun easy to understand method. It is an add on option (online). Or in person tagged on to your lesson for younger grades if the lesson length can accommodate.

Q:  Are lessons online or in person? Do you give in home lessons everywhere in Toronto?

A:  Lessons are either in person in your home or our studio or online. No we do not service everywhere in the city. You must be in area.  Please email for further details. Also, driveway parking is required.

Q:  I can't get to your studio as it is far from my house.  So my only option would be an online lesson? I didn't like my child learning online during Covid. Why would online work for us?

A:   Learning piano is very different from learning at school. This is similar to one on one tutoring. Once students try it they typically love it and often prefer to stay online. We have the most innovate approach to convenient remote learning.  Check out this video to learn more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QPmxhLbweHQ&t=2s
